Honda recalls 489,000 CR-Vs in U.S. and Europe
October 8 , 2012
Honda Motor is to recall about 489,000 CR-Vs in Europe and the United States after discovering that rainwater could enter the vehicles' power window switch on the driver's door, causing the switch to overheat and catch fire.
The Japanese automaker recall around 220,000 CR-V sport utility vehicles in Europe, some 268,000 units in the United States and less than 100 in Africa. All the recalled vehicles are from model years 2002 through 2006.
Five switch fires have been reported but no crashes or injuries were caused in relation to the issue.
Honda, Japan's third-largest automaker, has not given estimated costs for the recall.
