Heinz and Ford team up to use tomatoes

  • The Wall Street Journal reports that Ford Motor Co. and Heinz are teaming up to use extra tomatoes left by Heinz to make auto parts.

"Our goal is to develop a strong, lightweight material that meets our vehicle requirements, while at the same time reducing our overall environmental impact," a Ford researcher said.

Media notes that the two companies are attempting to use plant-based products in innovative ways. Heinz also teamed up with Coke to use ketchup in bottles made with super cane.
