HBO posts free premiere episodes of show on YouTube

  • This move by HBO appears to be completely out of character. The network has posted the first two episodes of "Girls" on YouTube, which the viewers have access to for free.

HBO's VP of social media and marketing mentioned that the audience of the show is extremely active online and it's "an increasingly challenging demographic to reach with traditional means."

The network has also found other means to reach the demographic by using Snapchat and Tumblr where Lena Dunham shares her character's opinions with people.

Moreover, cast and crew will be tweeting about the show from episode three onwards and Facebook will be used to recap the development of each character on "Girls".
