Greek lawmakers pass reforms, clear road for bailout talks
July 23 , 2015
The Greek parliament has passed a second set of reform measures, clearing the road for talks on a €86 billion bailout. Judicial and financial reforms were part of the measures passed by MPs at the end of a long and often acrimonious debate.
Meanwhile, thousands of people protested outside parliament, with a small group throwing petrol bombs at police officers.
The lawmakers voted 230 to 63 in favor of the measures, with five MPs abstaining. Of those voting against the measures, 31 were members of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’s own Syriza party.
