Greek government makes €2bn repayment to IMF
July 21 , 2015
The Greek government has cleared its €2.05 billion debt repayment to the IMF, the agency has confirmed.
The EU had provided a bridging loan of €7 billion to Greece for urgent use. Greece had earlier missed two repayments to the IMF, in June and July.
The country reached a deal with its lenders that has pulled it back from a possible exit from the eurozone, and talks will soon begin on the €86 billion bailout package.
Greece’s banks reopened on Monday after being shut for three weeks.
