Google buys military robot firm
December 17 , 2013
Google has now bought a total of eight robotic companies in one year, with Boston Dynamics being the latest one.
The inventor of the Cheetah, which can run up to 29 miles an hour, gets funded by US military to make mobile robots. Reports suggest that Boston Dynamics also works on other projects including fast runner WildCat and BigDog.
The company provides the US military with robots equipped to handle disasters such as the one that recently occurred in Fukushima.
"The future is looking awesome," Google engineer Andy Rubin tweeted.
