Fukushima Co. changed its name

  • A Japanese firm that went by the name 'Fukushima Industries' was made fun of on social media websites when it unveiled its new egg-shaped mascot called 'Fukuppy.'

The company, which has no connection to the recent nuclear plant disaster in Japan described the new mascot as being curious with a "strong sense of justice."

However, the meaning of the mascot was misunderstood on social media and many thought that it was an attempt by the company to promote Fukushima Prefecture.

The firm apologized for the commotion and a spokeswoman mentioned that it looks to end any confusion regarding the "misunderstanding."
