Fired Yahoo exec walks with $58M
April 18 , 2014
Yahoo's fired chief operating officer Henrique de Castro left the company with a package of $58M despite the fact that he only lasted 15 months.
Yahoo hadn't disclosed this amount until yesterday. "The board believed at the time Mr. de Castro was hired that he had a unique set of highly valuable skills and experiences that would be key to returning the company to long-term growth and success," the company's compensation committee said.
Yahoo also mentioned that most of the amount came from the costs of getting de Castro from his previous job with Google.
