Eurozone: Growth speeds up amid higher spending by consumers, businesses
July 4 , 2015
Business activity in the eurozone in June has risen at its fastest rate in four years, thanks to an increase in spending by businesses and consumers, according to a survey.
The composite Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), combining manufacturing and services activities, was up to 54.2, the highest level since 2011 May.
The figures indicate an economic growth of 0.4% for the second quarter.
The positive data come at a time of growing anxiety in Europe over a possible Greek exit from the single currency.
