EU Slaps a Record Fine on Google
June 28 , 2017
EU has slapped Google with a ban of 2.42 billion euros, which is equivalent to 2.14 billion pounds. The reason given in this case is that Google has supposedly abused its prominent position in the search engine market by building its own online shopping device. This dramatic decision is expected to have some far-reaching consequences for the tech giant. EU has alleged that Google has promoted its own price comparison services in an artificial and illegal manner. This way it has taken away its consumers’ right to choose and denied its rivals a level playing field.
