Emerging markets lifts Nestle's half-year profits

  • Nestle has reported a rise in net profit of 8.9 percent to $5.24 billion for the first half of 2012.

    Emerging markets sales rose 12.9 percent and were up 2.6 percent in developed nations. Nestle said total sales grew 6.6 percent to $45.14 billion between January and June 2012.

    Demand for its ready-to-drink coffee in China led growth while sales of its KitKat chocolate bar in the Middle East also increased.
