Eating-at-home trend in the US is slowing down
March 25 , 2014
Americans fell in love with eating at home but the trend seems to be leveling off. A new data suggests that the percentage of meals prepared at home in 2013 was the same as that in 2012.
"The move back home for our meals looks to be over," an analyst said. "I'm sure restaurants are happy to hear this."
Many people stopped eating at restaurants as much during the recession since meals not cooked at home costed thrice as much.
"About 65 percent of women prepare at least one meal a day at home," the analyst said. "It could be for themselves or their families. About 39 percent of men will prepare at least one meal at home. That could be me putting a Pop-Tart in the toaster."
