Dryers cost America $4B each year

It appears that dryers tend to suck a lot of energy and almost as much as energy used by three appliances combined.
USA Today notes that Americans could save on $4B each year if they ditch electric dryers. Turns out that efficiency requirements for dryers has been updated only thrice since the 1970s, but appliances such as fridges have had more number of updates.
The most popular model in the country will reportedly face a new standard from next year onwards. However, people should try to use the maximum speed on their washer and a low setting on their dryer to do their bit.
