Denmark sets aside millions for refugees

  • The Danish government has allocated $49 million to support the country's municipalities in handling the increase of refugees. Around $19 million will be used for expansion of the housing capacity, while the remaining $30 million have been set aside for integration of the refugees, media reports quoted the Danish ministry of social affairs and the interior as saying. "We are in an extraordinary situation, and require a special short-term effort by the municipalities to provide housing and to get the refugees into school and jobs," said Karen Ellemann, Danish Social Affairs Minister, in an official statement.
