Delta signs $14bn order with Airbus

  • Delta is replacing its aging Boeing planes with 50 Airbus jets running on Rolls Royce engines, according to media reports.

The US airline’s order is worth $14 billion.

Of these 25 would be Airbus A350-900 and 25 Airbus A330-900neo planes.

According to reports, Airbus clinched the deal after promising delivery of its advanced A330neo jets in 2019, which was sooner than US rival Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.

Delta expects the new planes to result in a 20% cost in saving per seat.
