December jobs report is barely impressive
January 13 , 2014
Today's jobs report suggest that only 74,000 new jobs were created in the month of December, marking the smallest increase in a span of three years.
Steven Russolillo of the Wall Street Journal said the unemployment rate decreased to 6.7 percent from the previous rate of 7 percent for "all the wrong reasons." He said the drop in jobs may be due to the fact that fewer people actually looked for work.
According to the AP, cold weather could have also played a role. There's one silver lining about the report: Jobs in November saw an increase from 203,000 to 241,000.
