Debt crisis: Don't humiliate Greece, PM Tsipras tells lenders

  • In statements that are likely to increase the anxiety over the Greek debt bailout, prime minister Alexis Tsipras has warned creditors against imposing humiliating terms on Greece amid a narrowing window to clinch an agreement.

Tsipras, who heads a left-wing government, told parliament that though negotiations had reached a “critical” stage, the proposals by the lenders were not “realistic.”

The Greek prime minister described the plan put forward by the EU and IMF as a “bad moment” for Europe.
