Cyber security is a significant problem
July 15 , 2013
Canadian corporations could be exposed to hacking because of gaps in cyber security. A July 2012 memo obtained under the Access to Information Act reads that vulnerability in new software could mean exploitation and ease in gaining access to networks of companies. The issue is that companies may not like the cost of maintaining a very highly secured network because that would mean a big investment.
The Canadian Cyber Incident Response Center said it cannot force any company to act according to the proposed recommendations and that the companies can choose if they want to report incidents or ask for help. In some cases, companies don't prefer to report any security breach because doing so could mean harm to their reputation.
