College is a great investment
April 26 , 2014
It's common to hear people complaining about children wasting too much money on worthless diplomas. "College is still worth it," Catherine Rampell writes at the Washington Post. She noted that only 5.8 percent of those with a bachelor degree are unemployed as compared to 14 percent that aren't.
We definitely need to help students find better jobs so they can make good use of their degrees but we first need to stop saying that college is not an investment. Rampell cited a research from the Hamilton Project and said it's still "one of the best possible investments you can make, outperforming stocks, gold, long-term Treasurys, AAA corporate bonds, and housing."
