Coke loses the "Most Valuable Brand" crown
October 1 , 2013
Coke is no longer the most valuable brand in the world and has lost the crown to Google and Apple.
The company has fallen from first place for the first time since 2000 when consulting firm Interbrand began releasing lists of the most powerful brands in the world.
Although the value of the company has come up by 2 percent since last year, Apple's rise was much more. Apple was ranked second last year and placed on No. 8 in 2011.
Interbrand's chief executive said Coca-Cola is brilliant at marketing but brands such as "Apple and Google and Samsung are changing our behavior: how we buy, how we communicate with each other, even whether we speak with each other." He mentioned that these brands have literally changed our way of living.
