Christmas shoppers set new record in New Zealand

With a record-break Christmas Eve shopping of $196 million on Tuesday, December 23, across New Zealand, the electronic payment company said that it was the highest spending day ever. Nationally, the maximum transaction rate of 156 per second was registered at 12:35 pm on Wednesday as opposed to 148 transactions per second in the year 2013, according to media reports.
Buyers focused more on home furnishings with major spending seen on floor coverings and furniture.
