Cheerleader sues the Oakland Raiders
January 24 , 2014
The Oakland Raiders pay only $1,250 to their cheerleaders at the end of every season. A new lawsuit by a woman identified as "Lacy T" said they are paid less than $5 an hour and the cheerleaders also have to pay for travel costs themselves. To make matters worse, the women are fined if they arrive late or bring the wrong pom-poms.
"I love the Raiders and I love being a Raiderette, but someone someone has to stand up for all the women of the NFL," she said. The plaintiff's lawyer wants to make this a class action the team's other cheerleaders would be able to join. "It's as if the Raiders' owners believe that the laws that protect all workers in California just don't apply to them."
