Canadian movie deal inspires hollywood

  • Cineplex offered Canadians the $19.99 SuperTicket this summer that gave them  digital downloads of "Pacific Rim" along with their tickets. 

    The idea inspired Hollywood and Paramount offered a similar ticket this summer. Studio execs believe the strategy is promising since it's a single marketing campaign for both a home video release as well as a theatrical. 

    The deal is tempting since home-video sales have seen a drop of 20 percent since 2004. Although, chances of mass audiences being attracted to the deal are low, the film industry appears to be all set to experiment.
