Brewery tries to trademark 'Nitrogen'

  • Left Hand Brewing in Colorado is trying to trademark the word "nitro" meaning "nitrogen." The company is by far the only one in the US to have bottled with nitrogen instead of carbon dioxide and it does have quite a unique bottle.

However, if the brewery is granted the trademark, it could get all those other breweries into trouble that pour nitro beer on draft.

Reports suggest that Anheuser-Busch has a week to decide as to whether or not it will oppose the application since they would want to be able to identify their nitrogenated beers to customers."
