July 26 , 2012
Planemaker Boeing is to sell up to 100 planes to Mexican airline Aeromexico in a deal worth around $11 billion.
Aeromexico said it would buy 90 Boeing 737-8 MAX and eight 787-9 Dreamliner airplanes.
The news came on the same day Boeing announced a 3 percent rise in second quarter net income to $967 million on revenues of $20 billion.
The results were boosted by sales of commercial aircraft.
The figures brought half-year net income up to $1.89 billion, a 24 percent increase over the same period last year.
