Berkshire Hathaway stock value rises to new levels

  • The price of a Class A share of Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA) crossed $200,000 for the first time on 14 August.This is about the same as the price of a middle-income home in the United States.

    Stock of the Warren Buffet-run company that invests in diverse businesses, has risen in value over the years. Earlier in August, Berkshire Hathaway announced that its profits had grown by $2 billion in the second quarter of this financial year. This year the value of BKRA shares have grown by over 13%.

    Berkshire Hathaway has a track record of delivering good results to its shareholders. In October 2006 the company’s shares had first crossed the $100,000 mark. Since May 1977, when the value of a BKRA share first crossed $100, the stock has delivered an annual return of 22.6%.
