Band makes money through silent album

Several musicians hate Spotify since it pays out too less for every played track. However, a group in Ann Arbor came up with a plan to make money off the service and put out a silent album consisting of 10 tracks.
Vulfpeck has asked people to play the album overnight since each listener would make them $4 and the band in turn promised to do a fall tour for free.
Music blogger Tim Jonze said he believes dedicated fans would go to that extra length to help their favorite groups make money.
"It's an ingenious publicity stunt and, if you squint hard enough, a commentary on the way music is valued in the digital age," Joshua Brustein of Businessweek said.
