Attempt to invent airless tires
September 16 , 2013
It has been years since automakers have been attempting to make tires that are airless. Most of the designs end up looking like the plastic wheels seen in Flintstones cartoons.
This time South Korea's Hankook has come up with an "organically connected" design, which allows for flexing when the roads get bumpy.
According to the automaker, the plastic is 95 percent recyclable and drivers would never have to worry about having flat tires.
Such designs look appealing but we are yet to see one of them succeed and hit the roads. However, since there are driverless cars already on the horizon, maybe such ideas wouldn't take as long to succeed either.
