Argentina sees conspiracy in debt default
August 1 , 2014
After defaulting on its debt, Argentina's government has blamed a conspiracy of international financial agents for the situation.
Economy Minister, Axel Kicillof’s last-ditch efforts to prevent a default by talking to bondholders in New York proved unsuccessful as Argentina defaulted for the second time in 13 years. Kicillof said his government would not sign an agreement that “jeopardizes the future of all Argentinians.”
Markets did not take the news well, with the country’s Merval share index dipping nearly 7% and the peso falling more than 4% against the dollar.
