Allegations on Meat Processors Leave 33 Government Officials Suspended in Brazil

As per reports, 33 government officials were suspended by authorities in Brazil over allegations that some of the biggest meat processors of the nation were selling rotten beef and poultry for the past many years.
Three meat plants have already been closed, while 21 others are under scrutiny.
It has been found that meat produced by the accused companies is primarily exported to Europe and many other parts of the world.
After two years of investigation, operation Weak Flesh was launched in six Brazilian states on Friday. Raids were carried out in 194 locations by the federal police, where 1,000 officers were deployed.
According to investigators, health inspectors and politicians were bribed by some managers in order to get government certificates for the products. Brazilian federal police mentioned that there are evidences of at least 40 incidences.
Reports revealed that on Monday, to prevent sanctions issued against Brazilian meat exporters, Agriculture Minister Blairo Maggi would be meeting foreign ambassadors.
