Airports to offer perks to frequent flyers
August 16 , 2013
Travelers usually forget about the valuable awards that airports have to offer while concentrating on loyalty points from the airlines.
Airports have begun to add their own incentives for those that fly frequently by offering discounted benefits. Dean Headley of Wichita State University said "airlines offer the service that airports ultimately have to keep up with."
The perks are more common with small regional airports since these airports lose traffic to larger ones offering more service. According to Headley, picking a bigger hub over a local airport could have consequences since airlines might eliminate services if there aren't enough passengers at a particular airport.
