AirAsia registers loss of $120 million for Q4 2014

  • AirAsia has registered a net loss of $120 million for the fourth quarter of 2014, the first such loss by the carrier in two years.

One of Asia’s most successful airlines cited higher taxes and losses linked to currency exchange as the main reasons for the net loss.

An AirAsia flight with 162 people on board had crashed into the Java Sea in December. Chief executive Tony Fernandes said the Malaysian airline’s crash had slowed down demand for some time but it was “recovering well now”.
