6M people signed up for ObamaCare
March 28 , 2014
The deadline for the ObamaCare enrollment is March 31 and reports suggest that the website has already reached its goal of getting 6 million people.
The original goal was 7 million but it was reduced after the unexpected rollout of HealthCare.gov. "We're at a level that's likely to support a healthy system," Obama aide Cecilia Munoz said. "The insurers are feeling pretty good about where we are, and so are we."
The Wall Street Journal notes that shifting the focus to the penalties was a good strategy since "enrollment activists and pollsters are finding that the threat of a penalty is one of the most important factors in lower-income uninsured people deciding to find coverage," Louise Radnofsky writes.
