300 companies promise to help the unemployed

President Obama said he has asked 300 companies to help the long-term unemployed in the US. Reports suggest that he's meeting with some top business leaders at the White House but offered details about the initiative.
"What we have done is to gather together 300 companies, just to start with, including some of the top 50 companies in the country, companies like Walmart, and Apple, Ford, and others, to say let's establish best practices," he said.
White House wants companies to consider those that have been unemployed for a long time instead of screening them out of the process. The White House reportedly began reaching out to the leaders last May.
Obama is also expected to make an announcement regarding a $150M grant project designed to help long-term unemployed people to land jobs.
