2015: Eurozone growth forecast raised to 1.5%

  • The European Central Bank (ECB) has raised the eurozone growth forecast for 2015 from 1% to 1.5%.

The bank also said its quantitative easing program, which was announced earlier this year, will start next week.

ECB chief Mario Draghi said he expected growth to strengthen slowly in the eurozone and touch 2.1% by 2017.

He said after a period of low negative inflation in the coming months, prices will start to increase later this year.
