20 US states to start 2015 with increased minimum wage

  • With new laws in place at the beginning of the year 2015, twenty US States and Washington, DC have increased their minimum wages and now out of 50 states, 29 will havea minimum pay, which is more than the federal minimum of $7.25 per hour, according to media reports. Legislative steps are taken considering the inflation rate in 20 states and so have led to the hiked remuneration.

    The increase varies from $1.25 per hour in case of South Dakota to 12 cents per hour, in Florida. The institute of Economic Policy believes that these hikes will support around 3.1 million workers of the nation.
