€15.6bn takeover: Nokia agrees to buy French firm Alcatel-Lucent

  • Nokia has agreed to purchase France’s Alcatel-Lucent in an all-share takeover deal worth €15.6 billion. 

    According to the agreement, shareholders of Alcatel-Lucent will own 33.5% of the combined new entity while Nokia shareholders will own 66.5%.

    The boards of both firms have agreed to the takeover, which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2016.

    The combined group will be worth over €40 billion and is expected to capture 35% of the market share in Europe.
