Ruse Map

Situated on the northeastern part of Bulgaria, Ruse is the fifth largest city of the country. It is one of the most important river ports of Bulgaria serving the country internationally. Situated on the right bank of the River Danube, it has a population of about 176,115. The city is very popular among the tourists for the unique architecture known as " Neo Baroque" and Neo Rococo".

Formerly, the city was a Thracian settlement but with the establishment of the second Bulgarian empire, "Rusi" settlement came into being. After achieving freedom from the Ottoman rule, the city became the economic hub of the country. At that time, it was the major center of the Bulgaria shipping.

The people of the city celebrate various events. The March Music Days is an occasion which is celebrated in the city in grandeur. The other festival of Ruse are Danubian carnival, St George Day and others.
