Dram, the Currency of Armenia




Money,Armenia comprise of notes and coins. One Armenian dram is equal to 100 luma.You will get Armenian drams for 10,25,50,100,200,500,1000,5000,10,000,50,000.
Coins are available for 20,50,1,10,20,50,100,200 and 500 Luma.

If you want to exchange foreign currencies then you can easily do it at airports, banks, hotels and shops at the working hours. In Money, Armenia , US dollars are the most accepted foreign currency. You should carry small change in Armenia as small shops can sometimes be unable to take big denominations. The city has ATMs and credit cards are accepted in shops. Some shops and hotels accept cheques.These ATMs are spread all over Armenia.

Banks are open from Monday to Friday. Foreign exchange offices are open till midnight and also on weekends and public holidays.

There is unlimited flow of local and foreign currency. But cash in excess of $10.000 should be declared. There is also unlimited export of cash in Money, Armenia . Cash equivalent to US$10,000 should be exported by a bank. The Government of Armenia is planning to phase out notes of value less than 500 Dram.

If you are a tourist in Armenia then money transaction will not be a problem for you. You just have to bring cash and go to any foreign currency exchange department of Armenia.
