What is a Landlocked Country?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A landlocked country, by definition, is an independent <\/span>sovereign<\/span> state that does not have direct access to the sea or an ocean. Other countries surround it, and its coastline lies solely on endorheic basins.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Continents Have No Landlocked Countries?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Australia<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>North America<\/span><\/a> are continents which have no landlocked countries, while <\/span>Antarctica<\/span><\/a> has no countries at all. <\/span>Oceania<\/span><\/a> (usually not considered a continent but a geographical region) also has no landlocked countries. Australia, considered both a continent and a country with an extensive coastline, has no landlocked countries within it. The continent of North America includes countries like Canada<\/a>, the United States<\/a>, and Mexico<\/a>, all of which have coastlines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Largest Landlocked Country<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Kazakhstan<\/a> is the world’s largest landlocked country<\/strong>. It is the ninth largest country in the world, covering about 1.03 million square miles (2.67 million km<\/span>2<\/span>). Russia<\/a>, China<\/a>, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan<\/a>, Turkmenistan<\/a>, and the landlocked Caspian Sea border Kazakhstan.<\/span><\/p>\n
