World Map showing places from where next Solar eclipse shall be visible

A solar eclipse is one of the most breathtaking celestial phenomena visible from earth. The shadow of the moon falls across the Earth, plunging us partially or totally into darkness for a short while. The Great American Eclipse that traced a path of totality right across the US on August 21st, 2017 was one of the most spectacular experiences for sky gazers. Thousands of eclipse chasers laded in the US to watch the total eclipse.

Solar eclipses, however, are not rare occurrences. The next solar eclipse that is likely to be visible will occur on February 15th, 2018. It will be a partial eclipse and will be visible from parts of South America, the South Pacific, South Atlantic Oceans, and parts of Antarctica. There will be two more partial solar eclipses occurring in 2018. The first of these will occur on July 13th and shall be visible from parts of Australia and some parts of the South Pacific and Indian Oceans. The other solar eclipse falls on August 11th, 2018, and should be visible from many parts of northern and eastern Europe, from western Asia, parts of North America, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Total eclipse chasers may like to watch out for the next total solar eclipse that is slated for July 2nd, 2019. It should be visible from many parts of South America, some parts of southern North America and the Pacific Ocean. The next annular solar eclipse is predicted to occur on December 26th, 2019, and shall be visible from many parts of Asia and Eastern Europe. It shall also be visible from Eastern Africa and the Pacific and Indian Oceans. An annular eclipse is when the moon casts its shadow on the Sun’s center. This leaves the Sun’s outer edges visible forming what we call the ‘ring of fire’ or annulus.

Those who are waiting for a total solar eclipse to fall within the US will need to wait for seven years, though. According to NASA, the next total solar eclipse that will be visible from the US will occur on April 8th, 2024, and will trace a path of totality from Texas through the Northeast.
