The Great American Eclipse, the total solar eclipse that will take place on August 21, 2017, is one of the most awaited celestial events of the year. It is the first total eclipse in almost a century to trace a path across the United States. In the journey of the eclipse from the Pacific Coast of Oregon is the first state in which the total eclipse will be visible.  The duration of the total eclipse visible in Oregon ranges from 1 minute 59 seconds to 2 minutes 11 seconds depending on the place of viewing. The eclipse will be visible between 10:18 am MDT and 11:27 am MDT in the various parts of Oregon.

  • Lincoln City
  • Madras

Cities such as Eugene, Springfield, Bend, Portland, Tillamook, La Grande, and Pendleton do not fall in the path of totality, and may only witness a partial eclipse. If you are located in one of the southern towns or cities such as Medford, Grants Pass, Coos Bay and Klamath Falls, you may want to move closer to the path of totality to be able to view this rare phenomenon.
