The ambulance service in Zimbabwe is a great medical relief to the country that has some of the most dangerous malaria affected zones. Ailment in Zimbabwe varies from malaria, tuberculosis, AIDS to malnutrition and other STDs. Though the capital city of Harare and other important places such as Bulawayo, Gwero, Kwekwe and the likes have hospitals and medical aid systems, the remote areas are not always well equipped to meet medical needs. It is for this reason that ambulance service in Zimbabwe is important to rescue anyone trapped in remote places.
The Medical Air Rescue Service or MARS
This is an active organization that provides ambulance services in Zimbabwe as well as in certain other countries. Functional in Harare, Victoria Falls, Kwekwe, Gweru, Bulawayo, Masvingo and Mutare, the ambulance services give tourists and natives the opportunity to access medical help in Zimbabwe in case they suddenly fall ill or encounter sudden accidents where hospitals are unavailable.
The Medical Air Rescue team comprising of more than 200 expert professionals, doctors and nurses have been serving southern and central Africa about sixteen years now. The air ambulance fleet is functional from the International Airport at Harare city. Apart from 3 airplanes, there are 26 road ambulances.
