Problems in Zimbabwe

Post-independence, the country of Zimbabwe has struggled to endure with the problems of illiteracy, poverty, corruption, prostitution, malnutrition and AIDS. The Problems in Zimbabwe are unending and the solutions seem to be unlimited.

Being an Anglophone colony, the country had to endure with the problem of lack of education. The few schools that were established in the country during British colonization were either restricted for them or provided preliminary English education, which was not enough for any kind of employment. Post-independence, and the growing unemployment forced the people to choose fraudulence as their means of living.

In the recent past, carjacking, street crime, and credit card fraud have become familiar among the Problems of Zimbabwe. Adding up to the Problems in Zimbabwe are the increasing rates of murder and attack on foreigners. Prostitution in Zimbabwe has also taken its toll in the recent decades. And with it, has grown the problem of AIDS. Lack of proper education, especially sex-education has led to an irreversible situation in the country. It is reported that around one fifth of the adult population in Zimbabwe suffer from HIV1 and an estimated 565 adults and children acquire the infection everyday.

The most important Problems in Zimbabwe root from the severed connection of the people from Zimbabweans Culture and tradition, during colonization. With the advent of capitalism and globalization, this problem has taken its toll on the temperament of the people. They are rendered helpless at the threshold of a situation, where they are unaware of their past and an unconvincing future.

The only rays of hope that seem to seep into this grave situation, are the efforts of the Zimbabwean Governments to create foreign relations with the other countries. Its associations with the UN has further provided an opportunity to resolve the Problems in Zimbabwe.
