Education in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe Education refers to the kind of educational system that exists in the country. Providing the population with the right kind of basic education is the primary goal of the Government of Zimbabwe. Many important steps have been taken in this direction but more needs to be done.
Primary Zimbabwe Education

Over the years important and meaningful expansion has taken place in the educational sector of Zimbabwe. Important steps are taken to make primary education available to all the children between 6 to 10 years of age. A large number of schools have opened up in Zimbabwe, where large numbers of students are being enrolled. English along with Shona and Ndebele are taught in the schools. The rural schools start teaching the students their native languages and then shift to English.

Secondary Zimbabwe Education

Secondary Schools are mainly run by the Government, where the best of the students are enrolled. Students are also enrolled on the basis of zonal quotas. The Secondary Education consists of three separate levels.

Higher Zimbabwe Education

Prospect of Higher Education is also made available to the people of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe has two University College in Nyasaland and Rhodesia.

However, it should be remembered that majority of the rural Zimbabwe population are too poor and cannot afford education for their children. Thus, important developments are still needed to improve the condition of Zimbabwe Education, although much has been done over the past years.
