By popular estimates presently Zambia has about 2 million orphans. The chances of circumstances improving is remote because the huge number of adults currently affected with the AIDS virus must die in the coming times. An unprecedented number of orphans produced by the outbreak is twisting the resource chains of Zambia. Moreover millions of babies are born every year already infected by the disease.
However there is still hope for the orphans in Zambia, because the various governmental and non governmental organizations are working day and night to alleviate the pains and tribulations of being the head of the family and breadwinner in the teens, or even younger. The ministries of Health and Education in Zambia are working in tandem with the nongovernmental international organizations like UNAids, UNESCO and SOS Villages to create a safe haven for the Zambian orphans where they can get the necessities of life and living.
