Zambia Women

Zambia Women are slowly beginning to find a voice and participation in the national socio-political and economic life. Zambia Women are fighting back against all injustice and discrimination against them.

Throughout its colonial and post colonial history, Zambian women have always been treated with a little lesser respect than the men folk. The cultural orientation of Zambia being male dominated and patriarchal, women were not given their due respect and position in society despite making significant contributions to it.

However, women in Zambia are now getting a little more of their dues because after the declaration of independence it was realized by the leaders of the country that a nation trying to move towards its future only depending on its men is not only very like a lame person with only one limb, but it is also highly impractical.

Hence a need for improving the social standing of women of Zambia was strongly felt. Education, health and infant care and rights to education and work with equal opportunities were identified as the key areas of development. Legislations were put in place and Zambia is already enjoying the fruits of its sincere efforts. Slowly but surely the Zambia women are rising phoenix like to take their place under the sun.
