Traveling through air is undoubtedly the most comfortable and easiest way to reach Yemen. There are around 50 airports scattered in different parts of the country. Some of these airports serve as international airports, whereas direct flights connect these international airports with the other domestic airports of Yemen. Amongst all international airports in Yemen, the Sana'a international airport is still the busiest of all airports. The Sana'a airport receives flights from various parts of the world including Cairo, Addis Ababa, Dubai, Jeddah.and so on. Other international
Yemen airports include the international airport at Aden, the Al Ghaidah international airport, the Hodeidah international airport, the Socotra international airport, the Mukalla international airport, the Taiz international airport and the Sayun international airport. All these airports have derived their names from the Yemenite cities where they are located.
There are total 13 airports with paved runways in Yemen, while the remaining 37 Yemenite airports have unpaved runways, which are in the process of gradual paving. Ataq, Beihan, Canoxy, Al Baide and Al Anad are among the more popular domestic airports of Yemen. However, Sana'a still remains the major airport of Yemen, both in terms of domestic and international flights.
