President of Yemen is considered to be the head of state. Like most other countries, Yemen President also plays different roles to lead the association. The Republic of Yemen is actually an independent Arabian Islamic state whose integrity is absolute and the residents of Yemen are definitely the part of the Arabian Islamic nation.
Here, the mobilization is organized on the basis of law and is exclaimed by the President of the Republic following the House of Representatives' approval. On the other hand, the President of the Republic remains at the head of the National Defense Council that exist for the purpose of safeguarding the Republic. Besides that, according to the Article 69, the House of Representatives also holds its first meeting after getting invitation from the President. If invitation is not made, the House meets on the morning following the expiration date of the said two weeks.
Usually, the House of Representatives arranges open meeting. However, at the request of the President, the house can hold closed meetings. The President of Yemen generally cannot dissolve the House of Representatives but in case of urgency by taking a referendum from the entire nation the president can dissolve it.
Besides these, some other articles of the Yemen constitution also deal with the duties and responsibilities of the Yemen president.
Currently the Field Marshal, Ali Abdullah Saleh is the President of Yemen. He remained the President of North Yemen (the Yemen Arab Republic) from 1978 to 1990 and afterwards in 1990 he became the president of the newly merged Republic of Yemen.
