Yemen was once known as one of the underdeveloped countries, however, the scenario has change over the period of time. More and more jobs in Yemen are being introduced, as the country now has a stable political backdrop with a more liberalized economic policy. This initiative taken by the government has opened up better opportunities for jobs in Yemen.
According to the survey conducted by the United Nation’s Development Program, about 73% of the Yemeni population lives in the rural areas and is engaged in agricultural works. 58% of the population are engaged in agriculture and related jobs. The agricultural sector witnessed a tremendous growth during the 1970’s and 1980’s. However, mostly women are mainly engaged in these agricultural jobs.
The other most popular job sector in Yemen is the oil industry, which accounts for 85% of export commodities and 75% of government’s revenue. The most common jobs related to this sector include oil refinery jobs, oil rig jobs, petroleum engineering jobs, oil terminal jobs, pipeline engineering jobs, reservoir engineering jobs, subsea jobs, rig electrician jobs, offshore drilling jobs, oil related jobs and drilling engineer jobs.
Apart from these, the building and engineering sector of Yemen is also rapidly expanding its service sector and bringing many job opportunities in the country.
Many foreign companies, which have opened their bases in Yemen, are also providing better job opportunities for the Yemeni youth.
